One of the county calendar’s most spectacular celebration weekends returns to the sky and track, combining displays of high performance air and land craft.
Sywell Classic: Pistons and Props has promised a Covid-secure weekend of classic motoring and aircraft on September 19 and 20 at Sywell Aerodrome.
As well as celebrating cars and bikes on the ground, Pistons and Props will also see displays in the air alongside a variety of live music too.
Combining historic racers, hot rods and motorbikes with classic planes and vintage music to create a fantastic two-day event, celebrating classic motoring on the ground and in the air.
Spectators will be able to see live action on the transformed ‘Racing Runway’ and ‘Sprint Strip’ with iconic Formula 1 cars, Hot Rods, Dragsters and Motorcycles all in action throughout the weekend.
This year Michael Schumacher’s classic Benetton B192-08 will feature in the runway show. The car was raced by Schumacher in the final two grands prix of the 1992 season and the first two GPs of 1993.
Another nineties classic for bike fans will be the 1994 RGV500 used by Kevin Schwantz whilst he was the world champion.
A new feature introduced for 2020 is the Old Bike Bring Along event where for just £5, riders of ‘old school’ bikes will receive two tickets to be used on either show day.
Meanwhile up in the skies will be a variety of breathtaking aerial displays and acrobatics from a variety of display teams.
Replacing the Great WW1 Display Team on the bill will be The Yakovlevs, a UK-based six-aircraft formation and aerobatic display team who will perform two air shows a day.
People who would like to display their classic car or bike can do so for £5 with driver and passenger able to attend on either show day.
Tickets for adults are £22 for a single day ticket with a weekend ticket priced at £35. Children under 12 are free of charge.Camping pitches are not available on the day.
Social distancing will be observed throughout the site and in all areas with hand sanitising stations and facilities regularly cleaned and trace and trace will be in place.
People should bring cash if paying on the gate as the card machine signal is very limited during the air displays. There is no cash machine on site.
